A Self-Portrait in Words: Antony Gormley's One & Other project set to reach beyond the Fourth Plinth

one_and_other.gifSculptor Antony Gormley has famously invited the British public to help create a living monument every hour, 24 hours a day, for 100 days on Trafalgar Square's Fourth Plinth. A lesser known fact is that the backgrounds and inspirations of the artists are being recorded for posterity. Reaching beyond the one hour of fame, artist Kate Rowles is interviewing the s plinthers in order to create a 'self-portrait in words' of each participant. In her quest Rowles has stayed up all night probing the lives of those participating, the resulting interviews will be archived at The Wellcome Collection. As the instalment draws to a close, a ceremony celebrating Gormley's project will take place in Trafalgar Square on October 14th at 9am. Gormley and all past plinthers will be there.
