Guardian First Book Award 2009
The shortlist for the Guardian First Book Award has been announced. The five titles were chosen by a panel of writers and journalists comprising Nadeem Aslam, Tobias Hill, John Gray, Martha Kearney, Katherine Viner, Claire Armistead, and Stuart Broom who is representing five Waterstones reading groups. The nominated books are:
• A Swamp Full of Dollars, by Michael Peel
• The Rehearsal, by Eleanor Catton
• The Wilderness, by Samantha Harvey
• The Selected Works of TS Spivet, by Reif Larsen
• An Elegy for Easterly, by Petina Gappah
Our money is on The Rehearsal, one of this year's quiet triumphs. Who gets your vote? What do you think of the shortlist? Anyone missing?
